Web Accessibility Statement

Houston Mind & Brain — houstonmindandbrain.com

Houston Mind & Brain is committed to digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards.

Measures to support accessibility

We take the following steps to help ensure accessibility:

  • Include accessibility in our internal policies and website update process
  • Provide ongoing staff guidance and quality assurance checks during site updates
  • Build on a modern, standards-based website platform
  • Implement an accessibility widget/tool (where used) to provide an assistive toolbar and automated fixes that help increase conformance with WCAG. Any widget supplements—does not replace—manual accessibility work.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 define requirements for making web content more accessible for people with disabilities, with conformance levels A, AA, and AAA. Our goal is Level AA.

Our website is currently partially conformant—some parts of the content may not fully conform yet, and we are working toward continuous improvement.

Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology

Our site is designed for current versions of major browsers and common assistive technologies. Older technologies that do not support modern HTML, CSS, and ARIA features may not work optimally.

Technical specifications

Accessibility of our site relies on:

  • Semantic HTML, proper headings, labels, and landmarks
  • Sufficient color contrast and visible focus states
  • Keyboard accessibility and meaningful link text and image alt text
  • Platform features and accessibility tools (where implemented) to support an accessibility menu and ongoing improvements

Note: No automated tool can guarantee full compliance. Accessibility tools are one component of a broader accessibility program that includes design and content practices and ongoing remediation.

Assessment approach

We evaluate accessibility through:

  • Self-evaluation and periodic reviews during content and design updates
  • Use of platform/app tools for scanning and fixes, plus manual checks against WCAG 2.1 AA where feasible

Known limitations & continuous improvement

We recognize there may be areas needing refinement (for example, legacy PDFs, third-party embeds, or older images missing alt text). We are actively addressing issues as they are identified and welcome your feedback.

Third-party websites

Our website may link to third-party sites we do not control. We cannot guarantee their accessibility and encourage those providers to adopt WCAG conformance.
